Handicrafts are made usually from traditional materials. We take the highest care in ensuring that the materials used are of high quality and non-toxic. We also actively seek out superior workmanship from among the pool of artists, thus ensuring that the products have a superior finish. Special care is taken in packaging the fragile items so that they can reach you in pristine form.

Promotion of dying art forms

We at Rare Indian Art believe that without the help of the educated urban citizen of today, many of these exquisite art forms will languish and eventually cease to exist. As more and more of these tribal and folk artists switch to other professions because of monetary necessities, these traditional art forms will need our help to survive the test of time. These folk artists are exceptional at their art, but are unable to find an audience because of their isolation from the urban populace. We intend to bridge that gap and in the process educate talented young artists about these art forms. Maybe some of them will one day carry on the legacy of these traditional art forms !

Rating of each product in four different ways

We rate all our art according to four primary standards. These are the "Aesthetics", "Talents & Skills", "Materials & Durability" and "History & Rarity". A detailed explanation of these ratings cane be seen at the Ratings Explained Page. These ratings help you to judge the value of a piece for yourself and make an informed buying decision.

Delivery of efficient service

Handicrafts as a business has usually been prone to arbitrary delays in delivery and non-maintenance of standards. We have evolved processes of researching and documenting our products and their artists by which we can remove these and other problems in the handicrafts business. We source our products from multiple artists directly. This ensures quicker delivery times and also maintenance and improvement of the standards of workmanship.

Customized Art

Since we source directly from artists we are able to deliver custom products to suit the tastes of our customers. We often receive requests for some special items in various dimensions. We deliver these requests to the artists who create unique art pieces in their particular style. Thus we ensure that while the customer is happy with the unique product - the art-form also gets sufficient exposure among our urban masses.

Authenticity of the product

It is our endeavor to minimize the use of factory fabricated materials in the making of these products. We encourage the use of natural materials from reliable sources. Also all our artists are making these pieces by themselves (Except in the case of certain NGOs). The products therefore are a true reflection of the artist's talent and capabilities.
