Sun God surrounded by tattoo motifs of birds and animals, painted in the Madhubani style. These paintings depict nature and Hindu religious motifs, and the themes generally revolve around Hindu deities like Krishna, Ram, Shiva, Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Natural objects like the sun, the moon, and religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted, along with scenes from the royal court and social events like weddings. Generally no space is left empty; the gaps are filled by paintings of flowers, animals, birds, and even geometric designs.

These finely handcrafted wooden figures depict Shimrei Shang, a Tangkhul Naga prince of yore with his lover, Mae’tonphy. Legend has it that Shimrei Shang being a prince was not allowed by his family to wed Mae’tonphy who was the daughter of a poor widow. The ill-fated lovers then took their own lives. Even today songs are sung about this couple.

This distinctive lampshade is crafted from leather and is a part of the Tolu Bommalu tradition of Andhra Pradesh( tolu meaning leather and bommalu meaning puppets). This lampshade is unlike any other, because of its use of leather and holes chiseled among the patterns painted on it. The network of tiny holes allow light to pass, so that when used as a lampshade, it gives a warm glow to the colours on the painted panels.

This piece has been painted on palm-leaves joined together. The central theme is the life of Lord Krishna in his birthplace 'Vrindavan'. At the core of the picture is a set of five frames – the topmost one depicts playboy Krishna amidst the 'gopis' (village girls); the next one shows him crushing the serpant monster 'Kalia' while the mermaids salute him; the third set in a wheel is about the eternal lovers Radha & Krishna; the next one is again Krishna among the 'gopis' and finally there is a charming boat ride on the river. These frames are offset by a border, and next there are 28 cameos depicting various stages in Krishna' life – from Krishna as a toddler with his mother, to his life as a king and a warrior. Again, these are offset with a border.

There are groups of people dancing joyously with their arms interlinked and musicians playing the horn and the drum in the top section of the painting. In the panels within the house formation, are people dancing, hunting and coming back from a hunt, again characteristic themes of Saura village life.

A lovely painting in the Saura style with successive borders embellished with Saura men and women dancing, animals and patterned motifs. The blank space between the rows of borders and the central image draws your attention to the image within the house formation containing dancing women and women returning carrying baskets on their heads.

A single Warli often tells different stories all happening simultaneously, as in this painting. As evening falls, the Warlis break into joyous dancing to the beat of the drummer, which forms the centerpiece of this painting. Elsewhere, a mother gently rocks her baby to sleep, and couples prepare for their nighttime meal. Dancing in a circle is the basic formation of most Warli folk-dances and their dances-vibrant, colourful and stimulating, present an amazing melody of music, rhythm and folklore.
