Description

This has been made by stringing together 8 leaves to depict Ganesha as a five-headed god. Two 'bhaktas' (devotees) and his 'mooshik' (mouse) look on.

History

Palm leaf painting of Orissa is an ancient craft believed to be dating back to the 10th century A.D.

Skills

This painting takes about 2-3 days to make and requires a good degree of hand-eye coordination and skill in fine etching.

Aesthetics

The grace with which the five heads of Ganesha have been etched and painted makes this painting look beautiful. All five heads have symmetry and good proportions.

Material

This palm leaf painting is waterproof and the color is nearly permanent since ink is filled in the grooves created by etching.

Care

Protect from dust and moisture.
