Description
This piece has all the elements of shaura art showing tribal figures, their animals and land produce. Three windows highlight the people in joyous moods. All around are snakes , scorpions, deer , fish, dogs, monkeys who are part of the tribal life . Central to the painting is the house cart laden with fruit probably going to the market place, and being followed by the basket bearer and elephant.
History
Saura art is an ancient ritual art practiced by the Saura tribals. Its exact origin is not known, however, it is known that the Sauras are one of the oldest among the listed scheduled tribes of India. Saura paintings are based on religious and ceremonial themes.
