Born in 1976 in the village of Giridharipur in the Keonjhar district of Orissa, Rameswar is a versatile artist, giving expression to his creative talent through the medium of Talachitras and tribal paintings of Orissa. He trained for two years under the State Institute of Handicrafts Training Centre from 1992-1994. Thereafter he worked under Guru Gokul Bihari Pattnaik (National award winner 1968) as his personal assistant for a decade from 1994-2004. During this time, Rameswar perfected his skills in Talachitra making, the art of fine etching on palm leaf. Rameswar has earned a name for himself as a distinguished artist and received numerous awards. Some of them include Orissa State Merit Award (1997), SCZCC All India Art Contest Award (1999), Orissa State Handicraft award (2002) and the National Award for Master Craftsman (2002) at New Delhi.
