Rajesh Chaitya Vangad, a Warli artist, belongs to the Warli tribe. He lives in Dahanu, in the Thane district of Maharashtra. A simple, unassuming man, Rajesh prefers to let his paint brush do the talking. He creates Warli paintings of different sizes and patterns with consummate ease. These paintings though they appear simplistic, have a rhythmic elegance. Rajesh has exhibited his paintings at many places including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Bhopal in India, and London and Barcelona in Europe. He has trained in the art of Warli paintings over 15-20 years and has largely been taught by his parents.
